Artist Trudie Barreras specializes in customized pet portraits, based on photos of each animal companion. The pastel drawings are done in a size suitable for framing in 8 x 10 format. Trudie does one pet per page — this allows her to get a good likeness in the space available.  Please email us a photo of your pet after payment.

Many people are amazed and delighted at how she captures the unique personality of each individual dog or cat. Trudie enjoys sketching pets as gifts or as “donation incentives” for animal rescue groups and other charities.

“We just love the pictures of our dogs that Trudie drew for us. I hope that others will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to honor their pets,” said Rev. Mark Shirilau, archbishop of the Ecumenical Catholic Church, when he received Trudie’s portraits of his dogs.

“It was so hard to keep them out of sight until Christmas when I framed them and presented them to Mario and the dogs as their Christmas gift. They are delightful and express their personalities well,” Shirilau said. Trudie’s portrait of his dog Butch is pictured here.

Trudie is a member of Metropolitan Community Church of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is the author of “Trust Truth: A Spiritual and Erotic Pilgrimage with My Gay Spouse.” You can see more examples of her pet portraits: http://www.schuylerart.com/pet-portraits.html

Animals add to the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of many LGBTQ people and our allies. We hope that these pet portraits will help people to celebrate and remember the creatures who bring so much love into the world.

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.”
